International Business Law and Integration processes invited at the 6th International Seminar on Private International Law, Complutense University, Madrid, Spain, next March 22nd and 23rd, 2012

Yoselin-Bermudez-tnFollowing the successful experience of the previous fifth edition, the Faculty of Law at the Madrid Complutense University will organize a new edition of its International Seminar on Private International Law by opting for a format like the last edition, combining a large comprehensive scope, that makes possible reflection on recent developments and future prospects in various fields of private international law, with particular attention to some recent or complex issues.

The two-day event will consider at its third session, chaired by Prof. Sixto Sanchez Lorenzo, business law in the prospect of integration, with a presentation by Dr. Dario Moura Vicente (University of Lisbon, Portugal) on “investment arbitration and the new powers of the European Union” and several communications concerning the harmonization of business law in the Caribbean and Africa, in particular by professor Yoselyn Bermudez Abreu (University of Zulia, Venezuela, President of ACP Legal Venezuela), “Analysis of the socio-legal elements of the Caribbean countries under the OHADAC project”, by Jose Cueto Alvarez de Sotomayor (lawyer & international consultant for ACP Legal & UNIDA), “OHADA and the harmonization of business laws in Africa”, and Ms. Leidylin Contreras Ramirez, J.D. (legal consultant for the Dominican Republic Presidency), “the Cariforum-European Partnership Agreement”, among many others.

The opening session will begin on March 22 at 9:30 am and will include the participation of their Excellencies Hon. Raul Leopoldo Canosa Usera, Dean of the Faculty of Law (UCM), Hon. Juan Antonio Xiol, President of the First Chamber of the Supreme Court, Hon. Francisco Fonseca Murillo, Director of the Representation in Spain of the European Commission and Hon. Pedro de Miguel Asensio, Professor of private international law (UCM).

The first sessions will update us on contractual obligations, inheritance, procedural aspects and family law.
