1st Meeting on the Harmonization of Business Law in the Caribbean and the creation of a Caribbean Court of Commercial Arbitration in Maracaibo, Venezuela

With the presence of private international law professors from the Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV), Catholic University Andres Bello (UCAB), Metropolitan University (UNIMET), Monte Avila University (AMU), University of Zulia (LUZ) and University Rafael Belloso Chacin (URBE) was held on November 18th, 2011, in the facilities of the Monte Avila University, Caracas (Venezuela), the XI National Meeting of Professors of International Law, chaired by Dr. Eugenio Hernández-Breton.

As part of this meeting, Dr. Yoselyn Bermúdez, President of ACP Legal Venezuela, together with Dr. Ivette Esis, accompanied by other members of the Venezuelan Chapter, introduced the OHADAC Project, explaining its origin, objectives and future steps of development, emphasizing on the advantages and importance of a Caribbean Court of Arbitration.

The presentation was followed by a discussion about the importance of harmonization in the Caribbean and the commitment of a large number of professors to join the ACP Legal Venezuelan Chapter.

As suggested by the ACP Legal Venezuela members, the city of Maracaibo was elected as the next venue for the National Meeting of Professors of International Law, to be held from May 16th to May 19th, 2012, taking advantage of the occasion on the same date for the Second Meeting on Harmonization of Business Law in the Caribbean and creation of a Caribbean Court of Arbitration.
