Arbitration and SMEs as priorities at the last Ibero-American Summit of Cadiz

photo-tnThe most important results of the XXII Latin American Summit of Heads of State and Government which was held on 16 and 17 November in Cadiz under the slogan “A renewed relationship on the Bicentennial of the Constitution of Cadiz” focused on the role of SMEs and arbitration.

The Ibero-American SMEs' Charter has been approved to create and develop micro, small and medium enterprises. The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will dedicate $ 420 million to medium-sized enterprises to facilitate foreign trade and helps

banks to finance their projects.

The Andean Development Corporation (CAF) will support SMEs with a credit line of between 200 and 300 million to the Official Credit Institute of Spain and a credit expansion (600 to 1,000 million dollars) to the banks.

Forty private sector institutions have signed a framework agreement to promote the creation of a Latin American Centre for Arbitration.

Moreover, Haiti has joined the Ibero-American Conference as its seventh associate, next to Italy, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Philippines and Morocco. Nine international organizations are Advisory observers.

The next summit will be held in 2013 in Panama.
